In 1924–25, Nielsen composed melodies to Anton Berntsen's poems written in the Jutland dialect. Not much is known about the genesis of the compositions. Though Nielsen did not conceive the four songs as an entity they were, nevertheless, published as a collection in 1941. It seems probable that the concert singer Anker Olesen might have encouraged Carl Nielsen til compose music to this poem. See more about this work at The Royal Library
