In 1924–25, Nielsen composed melodies to Anton Berntsen's poems in the Jutland dialect. However, Nielsen must have been engaged with Berntsen's authorship even earlier, since Æ Lastræ was performed in 1913. Though Nielsen did not conceive the four songs as an entity they were, nevertheless, published as a collection in 1941. See more about this work at The Royal Library
