Niklas Walentin præsenterer Carl Nielsen - CD Release

With support from the prize by the Danish Arts Foundation ‘The young Elite’, which was given to Niklas Walentin in 2013, he has been given the chance to record 4 grand works by Carl Nielsen in tribute to the composers’ 150th anniversary.

Carl Nielsen is very dear to the young violinist Niklas Walentin. Mr. Walentin was the 2nd prize winner in the International Carl Nielsen Competition 2012 and he also received two other prizes, here among The Prize for best Interpretation of Carl Nielsens works. He is the only Dane who have ever received this prize.

The CD will enclose the following pieces:

Op. 9 Sonata for violin and piano in
A-major
Op. 35 Sonata for violin and piano in
g-minor
Op. 48 Preludio and Theme and variations for solo violin
Op. 52 Preludio e Presto for solo violin

Niklas Walentin is accompanied by the famous Danish Pianist Ulrich Stærk.

The project is planned to be released in 2015, with the official release concert in Carnegie Hall 4th June 2015. At this event the whole repertoire from the CD will be performed live.
